Tynwald will be asked to consider the introduction of a sugar tax when it sits later this month.

Speaker of the House of Keys Juan Watterson wants the Island's parliament to pledge its support for placing an additional tax on items with a high sugar content.

The MHK for Rushen adds that such a move would raise government revenue.

This month's Tynwald sitting gets underway on December 13th.
