A telecoms satellite company is seeking planning permission to build four antennas in Douglas.

SES Satellite Leasing Ltd want to add four structures to the Carnane Radio Site, as well as equipment housing, backup power and secure fencing.

The company wants to be able to fly and control its satellites from the Isle of Man to connect its customers with data centres, remote regions and the maritime environment.

The proposals say each antenna would be 9m in diameter and almost 10m high, placed on concrete bases 7.5m square.

In the application, SES say the installation would benefit the Island's space industry, ICT and digital media sectors, as well as strengthening the Island's global broadband connectivity.
