Toilet tax to bring in £5.4m next year

Wed, 08 Feb 2017

Manx Utilities will receive almost £5.4m through the so-called toilet tax in the next financial year.

The authority's chairman Dr Alex Allinson confirmed that £5.381m is expected to be raised by the sewerage charge during the 2017-18 period.

Tynwald voted to approve an increase of 6.5% to the charge in December, increasing the rate from 92p to 98p in the pound from April.

Dr Allinson confirmed that the figures take into account the discounts allowed for early payment.
