The Government's annual passenger survey revealed the number of visitors was just under 300,000 -  a 1.7% rise on 2015, but the average length of stay was down from 5.5 nights to 5.

The total spent by those coming to the Island was £106.6m - £2.2m down from the previous 12 months.

The survey also revealed those coming to the Island spent on average £363 per visit last year.

Over quarter of the visitors came from the North West of England, while over 10% were from outside the British Isles.
