The Treasury Minister says this year's budget will help working families and make 44,000 individuals on the Island better off.

Alfred Cannan announced the personal income tax allowance will increase by £2,000 to £12,500 for the 2017-18 financial year, while child benefit will increase by 2% - the first rise since 2010.

The Treasury will designate an additional £11m for health services and a 2.5% rise to the basic state pension.

Mr Cannan also revealed plans to find annual savings of £25m across Government, while insisting the budget is one of optimism and confidence.
