One if the Island's primary schools will be closed tomorrow because of a norovirus outbreak.

Ballacottier Primary School will be shut to undergo a deep clean after pupils and staff were affected by the bug.

It's expected the school will be able to reopen to pupils on Monday, but parents are asked to keep their children away if they show symptoms of the illness.

Children should be free from symptoms for 48 hours before returning to school to ensure the school doesn't have to be closed for a second cleanse.

The school says it will provide further updates on its Facebook page.
