Feedback sought on Safeguarding Bill

Wed, 23 Aug 2017

The public is being asked for feedback on plans to introduce laws which protect children and vulnerable adults on the Isle of Man.

The Government is holding on consultation on its proposed Safeguarding Bill as it aims to improve the quality of life for children, young people and families at risk in the Island.

The plans include bringing in a Safeguarding Board to promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, as well as monitoring the work of those who work with these groups.

The board would also be able to develop policies and procedures to protect the vulnerable as well as providing advice and reviewing previous cases.

The full details of the draft Bill are available on the Government's website, as well as a link to a survey to provide feedback.

The consultation will remain open until October 3rd.
