First Classic TT races take place today

Roads will close around the TT course later as the first day of racing at the Festival of Motorcycling gets underway.

The course shuts at 11am, with two races, practice laps and parade laps on the schedule.

The four-lap Senior Classic TT is due to start at 11.30am, while the Lightweight race goes at 3.30pm.

As well as qualifying for the Classic TT and Manx Grand Prix machines, Michael Dunlop will take part in the Bob McIntyre 100mph Anniversary Lap, while a Classic TT Vintage Parade is also due to take place.

Roads are expected to re-open at 7.10pm, and no later than 9pm.
