Rushen MHK sorry to see hotel close

An MHK says he's sorry to see a hotel closing in his constituency after over 30 years.

The Cherry Orchard announced it would be shutting down a number of its facilities, including the hotel, function room and Chequers bar.

Speaker of the House of Keys Juan Watterson, who is also one of the representatives for Rushen, believes a lot of people in the area will have many memories for the place over the last 36 years.

Mr Watterson also confirmed he's been in touch with the manager of the facility to see whether the MHKs can do anything to help.

25 members of staff will lose their jobs as a result of the closure.
