Manx Labour Party accuses Health Minister of knee-jerk decisions

Mon, 06 Nov 2017

The Manx Labour Party is accusing the Health Minister of making knee-jerk decisions after announcing plans to end funding of the Meals of Wheels service.

The Department of Health and Social Care announced last week that it would be ending its contract with Age Concern to provide meals to around 300 local residents from January.

The MLP believes the Government must accept the cost and fund services properly if they want people to remain in their own homes for longer.

The leader of the party, David Cretney MLC, says Kate Beecroft is making decisions because of the financial situation, and that the Government needs to be aware that it will have to work with the third sector and local charities in the future.
