Manx residents who receive Government-subsidised Meals on Wheels will be given a leaflet to help them pick a new provider.

Health Minister Kate Beecroft confirmed a leaflet providing details of companies that deliver meals to the elderly will be sent to those who currently receive their meals from Age Concern.

The Department of Health and Social Care is to stop providing funds to the charity for Meals on Wheels, leaving almost 300 residents looking for a new delivery service.

The Minister insists her Department will give those searching for a new provider whatever assistance they need to ensure they make the right choice for them.

Mrs Beecroft also revealed that Age Concern is yet to decide whether it will continue to operate the service without financial help from her Department.
