Tynwald won't be introducing a champion for older people and the lonely.

MLC David Cretney was seeking approval for such an appointment at this month's sitting, but failed to gain support for the parliament.

Mr Cretney wanted the Government to appoint a political member to champion the concerns of older residents of the Island.

Chief Minister Howard Quayle confirmed last year that he had no plans to bring in the role.
