"TTXGP chose Paris over IOM" - DTL

The Department of Tourism and Leisure is giving its version of events following the decision to organise its own clean emissions race at the TT.

Last year it was organised by TTXGP Ltd but the DTL has now dropped the company and will arrange its own event called TT Zero.

The DTL says it had planned to work with TTXGP again this year, but says the management rejected a proposal and financial support package.

The company then announced it was planning an event in Paris that would have clashed with the TT.

The Department says there was no prior consultation.

TTXGP is then said to have announced it wouldn’t be able to run a clean emissions race at this year’s TT but wanted to return in 2011.

The DTL then told the company that unless it reconsidered its plans for the Paris race, the government would develop and run its own clean emissions race.

According to the Department, TTXGP declined the opportunity.
