Inquiry into Tesco expansion opens

Tue, 09 Feb 2010

The inquiry into the proposed expansion of Tesco gets underway today.

The supermarket chain wants to expand its current store and bring in a greater range of products.

It's estimated the larger store could create up to 250 jobs.

However local retailers have raised concerns that such a move could put many independent shops out of business.

The inquiry, set to last for a fortnight, gets underway at the Sefton at 9.30.
