Cyclists raise concerns over IoM travel costs

A number of cyclists and cycling teams could miss the British National Road Cycling Championships on the Isle of Man because of the travel costs.

The Island was confirmed as the hosts of this year's championships last month, but a cycling website claims the extra costs will prevent many riders from competing.

Road.cc says one women's team, who also skipped the National Series round that was hosted on the Island last year, fears expenses of around £1,000 to get a team of cyclists, sports director, mechanic and team car for the championships could limit the number of competitors they send.

One cyclist also admitted to having second thoughts, conceding the trip isn't financially viable.

The championships will take place in June.
