Government spends over £21,000 on taxis

The Government spent more than £21,000 on taxi journeys in the last financial year.

Treasury Minister Alfred Cannan revealed £21,674 was claimed through expenses and spent through Government-issued credit cards during the 2016-17 period.

A further £20,000 was submitted through expenses which could include some taxi fares.

However, the figure is down over £6,000 from the 2009 to 2010 financial year.
