Former Home Affairs Minister welcomes parole report

The Speaker of the House of Keys has praised the report into the Island's parole system.

Juan Watterson believes Geoff Karran's inquiry into the early release of Donovan Kitching from prison in 2014 was thorough and leaves no stone unturned.

Mr Watterson, who was the Home Affairs Minister when the inquiry got underway, admitted that he has regrets over the decision to let Kitching out of prison on licence.

He also praised the Department's response to the findings, saying that the DHA is committed to ongoing improvement.

Kitching caused a car crash that resulted in the death of a pedestrian three weeks after his release.
