Lifeboat tows yacht to safety

Douglas lifeboat crew towed a yacht to safety after it got into difficulty just south of Douglas.

The vessel had just one person on board when it was making its way from Belfast to Douglas last night.

However, the crewman found it increasingly difficult with little wind to power the yacht, while the engine started to overheat.

The yacht radioed for help just after 10.30pm, and was met by Douglas lifeboat shortly after 11pm before being towed into the harbour.
