DoI working with health and safety chiefs on Snaefell tram investigation
The Island's transport bosses are working with health and safety chiefs following an incident on the Snaefell Mountain Railway.
A replacement tram had to collect passengers from near the Bungalow after the brakes failed on a tram as it was coming down the mountain tracks on Friday afternoon.
The Department of Infrastructure insists the matter is being treated very seriously, and that the Health and Safety at Work Inspectorate is involved.
The Department has also offered an apology to the passengers affected by the incident, and praised those who applied the Fell braking system after the primary brakes failed.
The DoI states it's fully co-operating with the investigation and is committed to ensuring the safety of passengers using the Snaefell Mountain Railway, but that no further information will be released while the investigation continues.
