More young visitors coming to TT

Visitors to this year's TT contributed almost £25m to the Manx economy according to Government statistics.

The Department of Economic Development revealed over 45,000 people came to the Isle of Man during the fortnight, contributing £24.6m to the economy - an increase of 9.3% compared to 2016.

Visitors number were up by 6.2% overall, with the majority of the new visitors coming from younger age groups.

Travelling TT fans aged 18 and under were up by more than 40%, while those aged 18 to 29 rose by 36%.

The average visitor stayed for 6.5 nights, spending £757 on their trip, while 23% of those coming to the Island were first time visitors.

Over 85% of TT visitors came from the UK and Ireland, but those coming from further afield rose by 14.5%.
