Ricky Rooney
Local lad Ricky Rooney presents Energy FM's Mid-Morning Show, you can also hear him every Sunday afternoon.
Ricky has been a music lover forever, he began playing the clubs back in 1997 with guest spots all over the Island before securing a residency at the Cave nightclub in 1999 and starting Full-on! Fridays with friend Paul Aldridge, which ran through until 2006. Since then Ricky aquired a new residency at C'est la Vie in Victoria St which continues to this day. He also plays a big part in bringing over some of the worlds biggest DJ's.
Ricky began with Energy FM's Dance Nation show which he occasionally covered whilst the presenter was off, he eventually took over the show and then made his way to daytime in a matter of months. He spent a number of years on the Afternoon Show before switching to the Mid-Morning show which he loves!
Outside of music, Ricky likes nothing more than tinkering with his vast collection of 1970s Italian toasters, along with football, squash, socialising and horseplay.

Windows, petrol, a chilli burger, recordable CD’s and paper
What colour pants are you wearing?
Are we talking pantaloons here, or underpants? If it's underpants, not a fan of them.. Boxers all the way (and today they are black!)
What do you always carry with you?
Phone, keys, wallet and my conscience!
Favourite food?
Indian, A good hot curry that makes you sweat is always good.
What was your first ever job?
It was an electrician, and would you believe this is only my second job!
What's the first thing you'd do if you won the lottery?
Book my flights to Camelot's headquarters, that ticket would be escorted all the way!
Where did you last go on holiday?
I get away quite a lot on short breaks, mainly for dance music weekenders. My last proper break was Tenerife.. Credit crunch was freshly in the news around that time so we went for hot and cheap. I have been there a couple of times before and couldn't believe it when this time, we had just 1.5 days of sun in a whole week!
If you had to join a boy/girl band, which one would you join?
SWV, they get an unbelievable amount of peace and quiet these days!

Lilly Savage, Dame Edna Everage, Rupaul.... I like all women/men

I would like to get the actors from some of my favourate programs together!
