Gatwick strike

A strike at Gatwick airport could cause travel problems for Island residents hoping to catch connecting flights on bank holiday Monday.

Baggage handlers and check-in staff who work for the company Swissport also say they will stage a walk out on Friday 29th August.

It’s in a dispute over pay.

Although flights to and from the Island won't be directly affected, those hoping to connect to their holiday destinations are warned they could face disruption.

Virgin Atlantic, Ryan Air, First Choice and Monarch Airlines are among the carriers affected.

Virgin have said they will be putting contingency plans in place and their services should run to schedule.

Ryan Air are looking to let people take hand luggage only onboard planes.

Travellers are advised to check with their airlines they're flying with prior to travel.
