Cavendish receives honour

As Mark Cavendish gears up for his Olympic bid, Douglas Council has announced he's to receive a special honour.

The 23 year old Manxman has been given the honourary Freedom of the Borough.

It's in recognition of his outstanding achievements in the field of international cycling and as an ambassador to the Isle of Man.

Arrangements will made for a formal presentation when he returns to the Island.

Meanwhile, Cav and his Great Britain team mate Bradley Wiggins are tipped to perform well in the Madison race in Beijing tomorrow.
