Day One: Swimming - 2nd for Atkinson in Butterfly Heat

The Isle of Man’s Swimming Team had their first event at Gold Coast 2018 with the women first in the Pool.

The best local performance was in the 100m Butterfly and came from Charlotte Atkinson who was 2nd in the prelims and Qualifies for the finals. She missed out on a win by just 1/100th of a second, pipped by Australia's Brianna Throssell.

In the 50m Breaststroke, Laura Kinley scored a seasonal best time and came 5th in Heat 1. Niamh Robinson also scored a seasonal best time in Heat 3, coming 7th but didn’t qualify.

Steph Brew came 7th in Heat 2 and didn’t qualify.

Those qualified will compete in the semi-finals, held this evening at 9pm. (12 noon BST)
