Discount travel scheme for Southern 100 marshals
The Southern 100 Club is hoping discounted travel will help boost the number of marshals travelling to the Isle of Man for the races.
The event takes place on the Billown circuit in July, but organisers say they have been seeing a shortfall of local marshals recently, with older marshals retiring and younger people not signing up.
The volunteers help put the road closures in place, keep the public off the racetrack and ensure the course is safe, and a minimum number is needed for each session to go ahead.
Marshals who travelled to the Island last year will be contacted by the Steam Packet Company and offered cheaper ferry fares if they return to the event this year.
The scheme will be reviewed after this year's races, with a view to offering it to first-time marshals in the future.
