Prospect boss to meet with Chief Minister

A union boss will meet with the Island's Chief Minister to discuss proposed changes to public sector pensions.

Dai Hudd - Deputy General Secretary of Prospect - will meet with Howard Quayle later this week to go over the planned changes.

Prospect says around 5,000 Manx public sector workers will be expected to make higher contributions and receive reduced benefits if the changes go ahead.

Tynwald will vote on the new penion plans next month, with Prospect members being balloted ahead of the vote.

The ballot will take place from next Monday, with a result expected by February 13th, ahead of next month's Tynwald sitting.

The union says it understands public sector pensions need to be sustainable, but that any reforms must be fair to its members.
