Bus and bridge barriers collide
Fri, 30 Jul 2010
The barriers at the Millennium Bridge in Douglas are in need of repairs after a bus collided with them.
The barriers were coming down to allow the bridge to be raised when the collision happened at around 4.20 yesterday afternoon.
As a result the barriers became stuck in the down position.
Department of Infrastructure workers were able to manually lift the barriers, opening the bridge to traffic at around 5.10.
The bridge was out of action to harbour traffic overnight as a result of the damage.
Repairs will be carried out today and over the weekend, during which time it is expected to operate as normal for both road and harbour traffic.
