A motorsport team which is to compete at this year's TT has confirmed drugs were found in one of its vehicles last month.

Paul Bird Motorsport was on its way back to the UK from Holland when customs discovered a quantity of banned substances in a race transporter.

It's reported 8kg of cocaine, 71kg of amphetamine and 100kg of cannabis were seized, along with a handgun.

The UK Border Agency says it will be checking motorsports teams more closely as a result of the incident.

Paul Bird Motorsport says it's confident no team members were connected with the items, and that security on its vehicles has now been increased.

Northern Ireland rider Michael Dunlop will be racing for the team at TT 2011.
