The two new Liberal Vannin MHKs spoke in Tynwald for the first time as they nominated and seconded the Party's leader for the Chief Minister's role.

Kate Beecroft and Zac Hall were interrupted throughout their speeches as other members objected to their approach.

Peter Karran threatened to withdraw from the election, after president Clare Christian told Mrs Beecroft to focus on Mr Karran's qualities, rather than drawing comparisons with his rival.

Despite his defeat, Mr Karran said afterwards that he was happy with how Mrs Beecroft made his case [play clip]

Mr Karran received 3 votes to Allan Bell's 27. 2 papers were spoilt
