The Chief Minister held talks with fellow political leaders from around the British Isles and Ireland during yesterday’s British-Irish Council Summit in Cardiff.

Allan Bell was joined by Education Minister Tim Crookall at Cardiff Castle where economic issues dominated the agenda.

Among others, the Manx contingent were joined at the summit by Northern Ireland’s Peter Robinson and Martin McGuinness, Irish Taoiseach Enda Kenny, First Minister of Wales Carwyn Jones and the Chief Ministers of Jersey and Guernsey.

Allan Bell held discussions with his counterparts from the Channel Islands, with particular focus on international tax compliance.

The Early Years Policy, which focuses on creating a strong foundation for children to thrive, was also discussed and Minister Crookall said he would continue to work closely with neighbouring countries on this issue.
