Wed, 18 May 2016

A Peel man has pleaded guilty to importing cocaine to the Isle of Man after being stopped by police at the airport.

At Douglas Courthouse yesterday 29-year-old Matthew Prendergast admitted concealing the Class A substance internally and possession of it with intent to supply.

He was arrested after getting off a flight from Liverpool on April 9th - he was taken to Noble's Hospital where three packages were recovered.

They contained almost 84 grams of cocaine which had a street value of between £4,164 and £5,829.

Prendergast will be sentenced at the Court of General Gaol Delivery - there was no application for bail and he was remanded at the Isle of Man Prison until his next court appearance on June 13th.
