Police see 110 per cent increase in sexual offence workload

Police officers on the Isle of Man who are dealing with sexual offences have seen a 110 per cent increase in their workload over the last 12 months. 
 
The Public Protection Unit - which is staffed by six officers - say most of their cases involve children; with both current and historic complaints. 
 
It's something that's been described as "relentless growth" - the number of indecent assault, gross indecency and unlawful sexual intercourse complaints all rose in the year - there was also a jump in the number of people being caught with indecent images. 
 
Detective Inspector Michelle McKillop heads up the unit - she says the increase could be down to people having the confidence to come forward and report the offences:
