OFT offers debt advice

Tue, 10 Jan 2017

The Island's Office of Fair Trading is urging those struggling with debt to use its consumer advice and counselling services.

The OFT is based in St Johns but still offers appointments in Douglas, where consumers can discuss a range of topics from dealing with a landlord to knowing your rights when making a purchase.

Debt counsellors can also help those in debt negotiate with credit card providers and avoid having services and utilities disconnected.

The OFT provides debt advice for free, and can put those seeking help in touch with the Isle of Man Food Bank, Salvation Army and other organisations.

Contact details for the OFT's various debt and consumer advice services can be found on the Government's website.
