A petition urging the Manx Government to ban the transport of livestock from the Isle of Man has gained almost 2,000 signatures.

The campaign is calling for legislation preventing animals being taken off Island for slaughter or fattening prior to slaughter.

Those behind the petition are urging supporters to contact their MHKs and call for a vote to stop animals being taken off Island for slaughter, while the signatures will be presented to the Government.

The petition was set up on change.org three days ago and had more than 1700 signatures by this lunchtime.
