60 new apprenticeships registered last year

More than 60 new apprenticeships registered with the Department of Economic Development over the last 12 months.

The Government has been establishing placements in construction, engineering, ICT and other areas in recent years.

Speaking in this week's House of Keys sitting, Minister Laurence Skelly confirmed his Department saw a surge in new opportunities over the last year.

Mr Skelly also revealed he expects to see more apprenticeships and training programmes established in health and social care jobs as well as the IT sector.
