Return of Rally Isle of Man will be over 3 days

Rally Isle of Man will take place over 3 days when it returns later this year.

Organisers for the event have confirmed the rally will start on September 20th, running until 22nd.

Scrutineering will take place on the Thursday followed by 4 stages in the evening.

There'll be more action throughout the day and evening on Friday before the final stages during Saturday daytime.

The event hasn't been held over 3 days since 2008, but those behind the rally say competitors wanted to see it back to a 3 day event.

Rally Isle of Man was forced to take a break last year as the necessary road closures couldn't be obtained.

The full route for the 2012 rally is still being confirmed, with a further announcement expected in the coming days.
