Women's Football Round Up

Mon, 26 Jan 2015

Peel proved lightning can strike in the same place twice. In the Flood-lit Cup semis just over a fortnight ago, the westerners beat Corinthians 2-1. Last Sunday in the Warehouse Fitness Limited sponsored league, Peel again defeated Corinthians with the same score-line. All the goals were scored in the first half, Peel took the lead twice via a Sarah Wignall brace, the Whites netted via a Jade Burden strike. Corinthians were presented with a glorious opportunity to level matters when they were awarded a penalty, Peel goalkeeper Lisa Pugh saving the resulting spot-kick.

This result blows open the league title race.

In the other match, Douglas Royal defeated 10 player Colby. Leading 8-0 at half-time, Donna Shimmin (3) Zoe Hawley (2), Sarah Breen (2), Stephanie Hoogveld (2), Rebecca Cole, Becci Pate, Angela Waite and Andrea Lace netted for the Ballafletcher side.
