St Ninians took an early lead as two and three Andy Gosnell and Scott MacDuffie won the first end 21/12 before counterparts from Castletown/Abbey Liam Townsend and Brian Miles pulled the difference back to just three points by taking the second 21/15. The home sides James O’Meara and Oliver Barratt at one and two respectively snatched two closely fought ends against Daniel Richardson and Robert Russell 21/20 21/18, handing a one point advantage to the Southern team. Townsend and Barratt and Gosnell and Russell shared ends in the third match of the night 19/21 21/14, but the damage was inflicted in the fourth with a resounding 21/4 21/10 win for O’Meara and Miles over Richardson and MacDuffie. In the penultimate game of the evening Vikings MacDuffie and Russell ran their opposition close, but it was Miles and Barratt who emerged victorious 21/18 21/18. A strong start by Richardson and Gosnell saw them clinch the first end of the deciding rubber 21/19, but  Castletown/Abbey's O’Meara and Townsend turned the tables and dominated the second 21/5 to secure overall victory for Castletown/Abbey by 54 points. Women's Leagues

League 2

Doehle Corporate Selborne A 197 Citywing Vikings B 249

Although title favourites Vikings B were a bit too strong on the night for Selborne, there were quite a few hard-fought close games. Indeed Selborne's Sarah Davidson and Joyce Hall (first A team appearance this season) only lost 20/21 14/21 to Margaret Daughen and Sam Spellman.  Lisa Lewin and Susie Stewart against  Viking's Hayley Brophy and Fiona Brew had a similar outcome losing 14/21 20/21. Lewin and Hall shared games 21/20 11/21 with Brophy  and  Spellman, as did Davidson and Stewart 19/21, 21/19 with Daughen and Brew. Vikings played well to win the remaining four games and take a deserved victory.  RMcM
