July Handicap

A disappointing entry of just nine members managed to arrive at Sinclair Range for this weekend’s two competitions, the IoM Shooting Club’s July Handicap and the IoM Rifle Association’s Drinkwater Cup. Although overcast, the weather was excellent for target shooting and John Wood took advantage of the perfect conditions and posted an excellent score of 618.5 to claim the top gun score of the day and a new personal best digital score in the process.

In the handicap match the prize went to 14 year old Rhys Keown who recorded a gun score of 592.8 with his added handicap of 76.46 gave him the win of 669.3 from another teenager, Matthew Roosen on 594.8 + 73.32 = 668.1. Third position went to John Wood with his 618.5 + 44.38 = 662.9. Keowns scores are improving week after week and he will soon become a force to be reckoned with due to his determination, which is quite noticeable and proving to be very effective. As the season is now in its second halve, it has been possible to reorganise the handicaps issued for each competition and they will be recalculated on a monthly basis in decimal form.

Monday evening Matches

A drenched range welcomed a smaller entry than recent weeks for round 11 of The Empire Garage Tynwald Shield, round 1 of The Osborn Carpets second 600 scratch classified match and round 11 of The Sadler Junior Championship.
