The wife and daughter of road racer who lost his life at the Ulster Grand Prix last year, have planted a tree at St John’s Arboretum in his memory.
Gavin Lupton was 37 when he died after crashing at the Dundrod 150 races but was a regular competitor at the TT, Manx Grand Prix and Southern 100.
Hannah Lupton and 13 year old Suzy said that the Isle of Man held a special place in their hearts and had wanted to create a lasting legacy for Gavin.
The Copper Beech Tree was planted on Saturday with the assistance of DEFA.
As well as planting the tree, Gavin’s ashes were scattered at the Creg ny Baa on the TT course, a place where they choose so that family and friends could easily visit.
Gavin was also an organ donor and his willingness to participate in the scheme has resulted in five individuals receiving life saving surgery through his organ donations.
