The former Vicar of Maughold Parish Church, Canon David Green, has appeared in court for the first time today,

The 55 year old faces 8 counts of theft, and 10 of false accounting after investigations into financial irregularities within the Maughold Burial Authority. The investigation took longer than originally anticipated due to Canon Green falling ill.

The total amount unaccounted for is said to be £10,000, however the exact sum is yet to be established.

The Deputy High Bailiff adjourned the case until September 7th when the mode of trial will be determined.

Canon Green was granted bail with a surety of £1000
