An attempt to delay the decision on funding for a GP surgery in Jurby has failed.

MHK John Houghton called for Tynwald to delay a motion asking for £1.6million to build the facility to be adjourned.

It's after Michael Commissioners asked the Department of Health to look at providing a surgery for Kirk Michael as well.

Health Minister David Anderson will now ask Tynwald to approve the spending

Chairman of Michael Commissioners Stephen Hamer spoke in Tynwald this morning, asking members to consider splitting the funds between Jurby and Kirk Michael [play clip]
