Boats cancelled and roads flooded as storm hits Island

Thu, 11 Nov 2010

The Steam Packet Company has cancelled all sailings today as gales of up to storm force 10 are forecast.

Passengers booked to sail on the Ben my Chree's crossings to Heysham at 8.45 this morning and 7.45 this evening, and return sailings at 2.15 this afternoon and tomorrow morning are urged to contact the Steam Packet.

The Met Office is warning of gusts of up to 80 miles per hour.

As well as strong winds, there's also been heavy rain overnight.

The Emergency Services Joint Control Room are urging motorists to be cautious, as there are areas of standing water across the Island.
