New road traffic laws proposed

Wed, 01 Dec 2010

Proposals to increase the amount of time a road can be closed for filming and to allow vehicles to be seized are being put to the public.

The Department of Infrastructure is asking the public for its opinions on the Road Traffic and Highways Bill.

Amongst the suggestions would be allowing vehicles to be seized and disposed of when they are being driven illegally.

There also plans to increase the punishment for certain offences, as well as creating four new driving offences.

The documents can be obtained on the Government's website.

Any comments should be made by January 14th.
