Manx students hoping to study at university could have to achieve higher grades from next year.

The Department of Education and Children is to ask Tynwald to approve plans to increase the minimum grades from two Ds to two Cs at A level to qualify for funding.

However, the DEC also wants to increase the support for part-time and distance learning coursese by eight hundred pounds.

The Department is also looking at reducing the number of A levels it offers, which is currently 43.
