Plans to redevelop the former Marine Laboratory in Port Erin are being finalised.

The Department of Infrastructure has chosen Sea Breezes Publications as the preferred developer for the site.

The company, currently based in Cronkbourne, wants to convert the buildings into a twelve bedroom hotel, cafe, meeting rooms, lecture theatre, dive centre, retail unit and offices for the publications firm.

Sea Breezes also wants to retain provision for marine and leisure use.

The site had been used as a laboratory by the University of Liverpool until June 2006, when they had to give up the site for financial reasons.

Terms between Sea Breezes and the DoI are now being finalised so that a legal agreement can be reached.
