Teenager rescued from the sea

Wed, 20 Apr 2011

A teenager's spent the night in hospital after jumping into the sea at Douglas Promenade.

The 17 year old boy was pulled from the water last night by his friend after getting into difficulty at Loch Prom.

It's a popular spot for young people to go 'jumping' especially when good weather coincides with school holidays.

The sea was calm last night but it's thought the youngster took in a large amount of water when he entered the sea.

After the rescue, he was treated by paramedics and has since been let home from Noble's.

The incident has prompted a reminder from police about the hazards of jumping into the sea.

In this case the lad was lucky and officers ask parents to talk to their children about the dangers it poses and make them aware of the risks.
