Girl died after taking legal high

Wed, 25 May 2011

An inquest has heard a teenage girl died after taking a legal high.

Tanya Louise Hughes was found unconscious at a house on Ormley Avenue in Ramsey in April.

The 17 year old died in an ambulance on the way to hospital.

An inquest opened today.

A post mortem revealed that a drug called MDAI was the cause of her death.

The substance is legal and mimics the effects of ecstasy.

Coroner John Needham said it's obvious these drugs are dangerous and warned people against taking them.

The inquiry was adjourned whilst further investigations are carried out.
