Fuel spill warning ahead of TT

Sat, 28 May 2011

Motorists are being warned they face hefty fines if their vehicles leak fuel on the Island's roads.

Private vehicle drivers could be hit with a £1000 fine, whilst commercial vehicles can be given a £2500 fine.

Over the last five years, 25 vehicles have crashed because of fuel on Manx roads.

Drivers are urged not to overfill their tanks, keep their vehicle well serviced and report any spills as soon as possible.

Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne says it's particularly dangerous during TT [play clip]
