Two TT competitors have died following a crash in last night's sidecar practice.

67 year old Bill Currie from Ellesmere Port and Kevin Morgan, who was 59 and from Shrewsbury, crashed on the Ballacrye section of the course just after 8pm.

The session was called off after the incident and the road between Ballaugh and Sulby remained closed until 2.30am whilst investigations were carried into the cause.

The ACU says Bill was an experienced racer who first competed in the TT in 1969, when he finished 3rd.

His passenger Kevin made his TT debut in 1984.

This was the first year that they had competed together.

Managing Director of ACU Events Jim Parker says he'd known them both for a number of years and is saddened by their untimely deaths.

He says they were a huge part of the sidecar paddock and will be sorely missed by everyone involved in the event.
